mahlOt SANSOSA (Born 1982, Brasil), lives and works in New York. As a multidisciplinary artist, she employs non-fiction photography as the root of her practice. Born to an Afro Brasilian Catholic father, and an East African veiled Muslim mother, she shines a necessary light on the validity within cultural credentials, and the dysfunctionality of what is perceived as ‘authentic’, in relation to displacement and self authorship. Sansosa creates visual lifescapes ripe with the potency of what it is to exist in Womanhood. Sansosa has exhibited her work in galleries, art fairs and museums in the United States and abroad.
