Ana Paula Vitorio da Costa

Postdoctorate, Professor of Communication, Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora

Ana Paula Vitorio da Costa (b. 1984) holds a Postdoctorate (UFS, South Africa), a PhD in Literature (PUC-Rio, Brazil), and an MA in Communication (UFJF, Brazil). She is a substitute professor at the UFJF Faculty of Communication and a member of the Laroyê Research Center. She conceived and directed the Beyra JF Photobook Festival. Her curatorial work includes Zanele Muholi: Brave Beauty at IMS (2025) and the Photobook Fair at Sesc (2023-24), plus consultancy for Laboratório de Imagens Residency (2024-25). She has taught courses on African photography and photobooks at IMS (2023/25), Sesc SP (2025), and MASP (2025), focusing on African women’s legacies.
