Chelsea A. Flowers is an artist and educator who holds an MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She is an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, and manages ACRE’s summer residency program. Her practice explores narratives of “otherness” through social and cultural critique of institutions, and the implications for marginalized communities. She explores these ideas through grief, community building, comedic tropes, and participatory performance. She has shown work at various galleries including; ACRE Projects Space (Chicago, IL), Vox Populi (Philadelphia, PA), and The Sculpture Center (Cleveland, OH). She is an alum of Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
