Dr. Anya Wallace
Artist, Curator, and Independent Scholar
Anya Wallace is an artist, curator, and independent scholar whose artwork and scholarship study the lessons and pleasures of Black girlhood. She cites her upbringing in the Tropics–amidst orange, mango, avocado trees, and big-Family for her unique use of methodologies she names photographic taste and performance prose.
She holds a PhD in Art Education, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (Penn State University), studied Photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and served as Brandeis University’s Florence Levy Kay Postdoctoral Fellow in Black Feminist Studies (2022-2024).
In 2023, she curated the nationally recognized art exhibition Genius Species.
