Eyakem Gulilat is an Ethiopian American photographer, artist, and cultural practitioner based in Oklahoma. His work explores Black placemaking, migration, memory, and community through photography and socially engaged practice. Gulilat’s work engages Black experiences and diasporic histories through an interdisciplinary approach that combines documentary and fine art photography, portraiture, and ritual-based, community-centered methodologies, including the Ethiopian coffee ceremony. He is a Tulsa Artist Fellow and the founder of a small-batch coffee label rooted in cultural storytelling.
