Melanie Masterton
2025 ACLS Fellow and Lecturer, California Institute of Technology
Melanie Masterton is a 2025 ACLS Fellow and a lecturer in English and Writing at the California Institute of Technology in the Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences. She is a former University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship in English at UCLA and former Terra Foundation Affiliated Fellow at the American Academy in Rome. Her scholarly work appears in Modern Language Notes, African American Review, California Italian Studies, Pacific Coast Philology, Modernism/modernity, ARIEL, Italian Quarterly, MELUS, and Mississippi Quarterly. With Ugo Rubeo and James C. Hall, Masterton co-edited and co-wrote an introduction to “New Perspectives on William Demby,” a special issue of African American Review.
