Mercy Romero

Associate Professor

Mercy Romero teaches in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society at UC Irvine. She is the author of Toward Camden (Duke UP, 2021) and Last Four: Poems (Duke UP, forthcoming). Her writing and research interests in the built environment, poetry, and the visual arts have been supported by the Getty Foundation and Getty Research Institute; the Chancellor’s Distinguished Visiting Scholar Award at Rutgers University, Camden; the Mellon and Flamboyan Arts Fund (Letras Boricuas Creative Non-fiction Fellow); and the National Endowment for the Humanities & Ford Foundation (Scholar-in-Residence, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture).
