Michael Ralph is Cameron Schrier Professor and founding director of the Center for an Equitable Economy and Sustainable Society at Howard University. Michael has received fellowships from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Woodrow Wilson Foundation, Social Science Research Council, National Science Foundation, Institute for Advanced Study, Charles Warren Center (Harvard) and W.E.B. Dubois Center (Harvard). Michael’s 2015 book Forensics of Capital demonstrates that the social profile of an individual or country is a credit profile as well as a forensic profile. Michael’s 2024 book, Before 13th demonstrates that convict leasing did not begin with the 13th amendment but several decades prior.
