Michèle Pearson Clarke is a visual artist, writer and educator. Working primarily in film, video and photography, her work situates grief as a site of possibility for social connection and political engagement. Born in Trinidad and based in Toronto, her work has been included in exhibitions and screenings nationally and internationally including at Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz, MOMENTA Biennale de l’image, Lagos Photo Festival, and Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Most recently, Clarke served as the second Photo Laureate for the City of Toronto, and she was shortlisted for the 2023 Sobey Art Award.
