Rachel Delerme

Raquel Delerme is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Southern California. Her research investigates financial and labor extraction in the context of contemporary U.S. mass incarceration. Raquel is currently working on two projects. The first examines how incarcerated women mother from prison and how women in the free world mother adult children who are imprisoned. Her second project analyzes the racialized and gendered contours of women’s penal labor. Raquel is committed to educational equity and has taught highschoolers, undergraduates, and incarcerated learners. Her work has been published in Gender & Society and The Conversation
