Rebecca Hankins is a full professor in the Department of Global Languages and Cultures (GLAC) in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University. She has been at the University, initially housed in the archives since 2003, receiving tenure in 2010, moving to GLAC full-time in 2023. She researches and teaches courses in Africana and Religious Studies with an affiliated status in Women’s & Gender Studies. In December 2016, U.S. President Barack Obama appointed her to the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC/NARA). She has published and presented nationally and internationally, including recent talks in Germany, Senegal, and Kenya.
