Rogelio Acevedo

Rogelio Acevedo, born in Watts, first attended the Watts Towers Arts Center as a student. His classes included a variety of media such as painting, photography, and computer animation. At the center, he was also able to view professional art exhibits and meet with artists. This exposure fostered his growing interest in the arts.

A graduate from California State University Long Beach, Acevedo holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing and Jewelry. A talented artist in his own right, Acevedo is working on a number of his own pieces.

Dedicated to sharing his knowledge with children and young people, he traveled to Mexico to conduct workshops there; and is a favorite art instructor with the many youth who attend art classes on the Watts Towers Arts Center Campus. He is the director of the Charles Mingus Youth Arts Center and serves as Education Coordinator of the Watts Towers Arts Center Campus
