Colleen Ndemeh is a multidisciplinary performance artist, activist and cultural worker of Kpelle (Liberian) and Irish-American descent. Her work is movement-based and centers women of the African diaspora, as well as her feminist, antiracist and anticolonial politics. From 2014-2019 she lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, engaged in artistic and political practices in community with Afro Latin American folks. There she co-founded Kukily, a transnational afrofeminist arts collective that creates performance, audiovisual, installations and community-centered practices. Colleen has trained in Afro-diasporic, West African and Contemporary dance, and received her BA in Dance and Anthropology from Bates College (US), a diplomatura in “Territory-Based Artistic Practices” from the National University of the Arts Argentina, and is currently a Fulbright grant recipient studying an MA in performance in Berlin. She has performed, taught and shared her internationally, and recently started her dream project to build a cultural institution in Liberia.
