Travel Information – Timeless Africa Safaris
Timeless Africa Art Experiences is a high-end boutique travel company based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Started in 2002 by Marco van Embden (WPO, Cape Town Chapter), Timeless Africa Art Experiences specializes in planning and arranging bespoke luxury art experiences and safaris in Africa for discerning guests from all over the world.
South Africa is home to some of the most ancient and beautiful art in the world as well as a host of diverse and challenging contemporary artists. Our groups explore this diversity with visits to collections in private homes, National and contemporary galleries, artists’ studios, historical monuments and natural sights which afford the guests a wonderful overview of a South African art and culture immersion.

ACCOMMODATION
We would like to offer a choice of 4 hotels in the Rosebank area, which are roughly 20 minutes’ drive away from the Conference at the University of the Witwatersrand.
The Crowne Plaza and 54 on Bath hotels are 170 metres from each other and would be the more luxurious offerings.
The Courtyard Hotel and Holiday Inn Rosebank are 150 metres from each other and are the value accommodations.
The map below shows the locations of the 4 hotels, starting from the Crowne Plaza on the far left and ending with the Courtyard Hotel on the far right. It is 550 metres (a 7-minute walk) between the furthest points, with the 2 other hotel offerings in-between. This allows for easier transport logistics with only 2 pick-up / drop-off points for the 4 hotels – one between the Courtyard and Holiday Inn and one between the Crowne Plaza and 54 on Bath.

JOHANNESBURG PRE EXCURSIONS
Monday 14, Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 November 2016
Option 1: Apartheid Museum, lunch in Soweto, walk down the famous Vilakazi Street and visit the Hector Pieterson Memorial where you will meet Hector’s sister, Antoinette Sithole.
Option 2: Constitutional Court Art Collection, lunch at an Art Gallery with an artist in attendance and a visit to select galleries in the afternoon.
Option 3: Art Experience Immersion – Galleries, artist’s studio and collector’s home visits.
Option 4: Wednesday Afternoon – meet David Goldblatt at a venue TBC.
Option 1 and 2 will be run simultaneously on both Monday and Tuesday, depending on the demand.
Option 3 will be run on Monday, Tuesday and a shortened version on Wednesday morning.
Option 4 is only available on Wednesday Afternoon.

CAPE TOWN POST EXCURSIONS
Sunday 20 – Wednesday 23 November 2016
Extend your stay, with a 2-hour flight to the beautiful Mother City of Cape Town, where you will stay for the next three nights.
Sunday: Flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town, transfer to your hotel. Venture up Table Mountain before savouring dinner at the home of a prominent local collector.
Monday: Full day guided excursion with visits to a selection of Cape Town’s finest Art Galleries and artist’s studios.
Tuesday: Full day guided excursion with visits to a selection of Cape Town’s finest Art Galleries and artist’s studios.
Wednesday: Morning guided excursion to explore the Cape’s natural beauty, history and culture, before being transferred to Cape Town International Airport in order to check in for your onward flight.
This is a ‘package deal’ which will include your accommodation, transportation, sightseeing entrance fees, lunches and dinners as stipulated in the itinerary and an English speaking Guide for the group.
