Audrey Edwards is an award-winning journalist, editor, and writer who served as Executive Editor and Editor at Essence magazine; Executive Editor and Vice President of Editorial Operations at Black Enterprise, and Senior Editor at Family Circle and More magazines. Her freelance writing work has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Essence, The Columbia Journalism Review, and O, The Oprah Magazine, among many others. Ms. Edwards is the author of seven books, her most recent being American Runaway: Black and Free in Paris in the Trump Years (2020), cited by the New York Times as “an amazing collection of essays.” Ms. Edwards also collaborated with Edward Lewis, co-founder of Essence, on his business memoir The Man from Essence: Creating a Magazine for Black Women (Atria Books, 2014), which HBO Max bought the rights to for adapting into a limited-run television series, scheduled to air in 2023.
