CJ is a conjuh artist, poet, and community mystic born and raised in Philadelphia. He specializes in Africana folkways and creates performances and artworks which focus on themes such as communal healing, reflection and collective power. He spent his undergraduate years at Stanford University where he studied conjuh art with Amara Tabor-Smith, a Bay-Area choreographer, theatre maker, and the originator of the term. He now studies Media Studies and Production at Temple University, with a focus on the use of performance to explore the spiritual/mythological identity of Black men and boys.
