Kavita Kulkarni is a researcher, writer, and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. She received her PhD from the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University in 2019, and is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Center for Digital Humanities at Princeton University. Kavita’s research interests lie at the intersection of media studies, performance studies, and Black studies. Kavita is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Popular Music Studies, a former Critical Studies fellow of the Whitney Independent Studies Program (2017–2018), and a former resident of Shandaken: Governors Island (2018–2019).
