Rashid Zakat (b. Baltimore, 1984) is a filmmaker and video artist based in Philadelphia. He uses moving images, photography, design, audio and the web to encourage people towards beauty and wonder. Through digital technology and immersive environments, Rashid engages audiences through sensory experiences involving sight, sound and social gathering. His body of work includes short documentary, portraiture, visual mixtapes, digital publications, video installations, live performance & dance parties that experiment with visuals. Obsessed with the internet and new modes of communication, Rashid routinely shares his experiments on social platforms.

Rashid has been featured in exhibitions at The Philadelphia Museum of Art, BlackStar Projects, Philadelphia Contemporary, Fabric Workshop and Museum, Asian Arts Initiative and Icebox Project Space, and has had a 15-year career as a director and cinematographer for non-fiction, experimental films and music videos. He has done work for Nike, Intel, Grammy Award Winning artist India.Arie, Carmelo Anthony, Black Thought of The Roots, NBC, Comcast, Soul Train, Topic, WHYY, Mural Arts & BET to name a few.

His space-making interventions activate a relationship between the audience and the work, rousing them to joy, pleasure, ecstasy and humor to invoke a transcendental social experience.
